Apple Picking

One of my favorite things about the City is getting out of it. Day trips upstate (or in this case, Jersey) are some of the most refreshing moments. After church this past weekend, Anthony, the boys, and my sweet friend, Alma, and I drove down to Donaldson Farm for some fun apple and pumpkin picking.

There’s nothing quite like eying the best apple on the tree. Or smelling the barrels of hay being stacked on a tractor. Or being surrounded by autumn colored hills. It’s all so nastolgic for me.

We took a short hayride down the hill to the apple trees and pumpkin patch. ...and please note Ayden’s pickle face - ya’ll, those pickles were so good!!

We had a fun time choosing our favorite type of apple. I think I sided with the Stayman Winesap..usually these are only used for cooking but I LOVE it’s tart and crispness. What’s your favorite??

 Such personality, huh?!

And before we headed home we took full advantage of the farm’s hilarious cut-outs.

I’d say this was an afternoon well spent. Full of laughs, bellies full of apple cider donuts, and enough apples to last for weeks!!  Send me your favorite apple recipies! My oven has an apple crisp baking as we speak. Yumm!!
